ABOUT KERRY HEWSON
My name is Kerry Hewson. I spent many years bringing up a family whilst working part-time in various organisations as a Youth Worker, an assistant at a day care centre for dementia sufferers as well as various voluntary areas including classroom assistant and school governor. All of these meant that I was working alongside all ages, all backgrounds and abilities which gave me an enormous insight and understanding of humanity. One of the facts that had the most impact on me was the realisation that people have the most profound ability - often without awareness of the fact – to cause great hurt to others. A chance remark can stimulate a psychological response in the recipient that can have repercussions on the way that person develops or behaves for many years. Sounds illogical doesn’t it? Think carefully though, how many of us STILL react in a particular way to a certain sound/smell/phrase simply because our subconscious associates it with a past experience? The smell of freshly cut grass often initiates in many people a welcome memory of carefree days as a child, for others it might be associated with less pleasant, often buried memories, of an experience too uncomfortable for someone to explore alone but which just might be the key to current troubles. Whatever the causes or manifestations of past negative conditioning, I believe that we all have the right and responsibility to ourselves and those we share our lives with to be as happy as we possibly can. To enjoy life, be as untroubled as possible and to acquire strength and abilities to deal with future issues. I am committed to help, to the best of my ability, all clients who choose to consult me to achieve this.
Several years ago, after a close relative was diagnosed with a chronic and extremely painful illness, I was very motivated to try to find some way to help. Not being medically qualified I decided to endeavour to make use of my previous education at The University of Surrey where I majored in Psychology but also studied Sociology and Philosophy. After many months of research I chanced upon an article relating the story of an individual who had a painful health problem which had been helped by the use of hypnotherapy. That particular person had learned, with the help of a qualified hypnotherapist, invaluable techniques which they could use as and when required to help relieve their pain and discomfort. This meant they would often be able to reduce (under medical supervision) their prescribed pain relief.
I was sufficiently inspired to find out more and discovered that hypnotherapy – despite it’s sometimes ‘bad press’ had been experienced by many people for centuries to help resolve all manner of emotionally based problems as well as a degree of pain relief for some physical disorders. A few months later I had found a reputable training organisation called Chrysalis, at that time based in Somerset. I applied and was accepted to commence my training as a hypnotherapist in the autumn of 2002. I gained my Diploma in Hypnotherapy (Dip Hyp) in May 2004 and have been privileged to work with and help guide many clients to a happier, more fulfilled future.
I do not claim to ‘cure’ anyone of anything. I consider myself to be the person who helps my clients to find the right way to resolve their problems. I do not tell anyone what to do, merely assist them to find the solutions that are right for them and to look forward to peace of mind and strength of resolve.
I am happy to reply briefly to emails or telephone enquiries but would urge anyone who is interested in helping themselves to resolve any issues which may be restricting them or preventing them from being fully content to consider arranging to see me for the free 30 minute consultation to help decide if hypnotherapy could be the answer to their problems.
